چکیده

This study extends the analysis in [1] where the effect of the round trip propagation delay on performance measures of an Asynchronous Transmission WDMA protocol is examined for infinite population and Poisson arrivals. An other attribute, associated with the WDM networks, that affects their behaviour is the receiver collision phenomenon. Especially this paper examines the influence on throughput and total delay measures of the transmitted information as function of the propagation delay latency and the receiver collision phenomenon characteristics [2]. So this presentation accomplishes the analysis for a complete study and a substantial examination of the real performance behaviour of the optical Passive Star WDM networks. Key-Words: Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM), Collision Avoidance Technique, Asynchronous transmission, propagation delay latency, receiver collisions.

Proposed ST-Slotted-CS-ALOHA Protocol for Time Saving and Collision Avoidance

Time Saving and energy consumption has become a vital issue that attracts the attention of researchers in Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) fields. According to that, there is a strong need to improve MAC protocols performance in UWSNs, particularly enhancing the effectiveness of ALOHA Protocol. In this paper, a time-saving Aloha protocol with slotted carrier sense proposed which we c...

A Control Channel Architecture with Collisions Avoidance Strategy for Performance Improvement in WDM Ring Networks

This study introduces the scalability problem of many WDMA protocols for ring networks. We present a slotted access protocol and a scalable network architecture suitable for WDM ring metropolitan area networks. Each node is equipped with a pair of tunable transceivers to communicate exploiting all the fiber data wavelengths. Also, each node uses a pair of fixed tuned transceivers to exchange co...

-In this paper we study the effect of round trip propagation delay in performance measures of Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) networks. Even though the impact of propagation delay is substantial in optical networks behavior, most of the studies ignore the effect of this object in throughput and delay evaluation. We assume a WDM Local Area Network (LAN) where the round trip propagation de...

The Effect of Exerting Adequate Persistence in Collision Avoidance Protocols

Many medium-access control (MAC) protocols based on a collision-avoidance handshake between the sender and the receiver have been proposed for wireless networks. To date, however, the analysis of these protocols has assumed non-persistent strategies in sending control packets for collision avoidance. The persistent strategies discussed in the past for CSMA and CSMA/CD provide performance improv...

Communication Protocols for SCM-WDM Networks

Subcarrier wavelength-division multiaccess (SCM-WDM) networks have many features, such as high system capacity, flexible packet switching access and very fast tuning speed of RF local-oscillator, etc. Though, generally speaking, existing protocols for WDMA networks can be applied to SCM-WDM networks, the transmission efficiency in terms of packet delay and network throughput is low, since an op...
